CHANDIGARH: The blazing sun has been harsher this summer as the minimum temperature for this month has been the highest since last year. According to data available with the meteorological department, in 2011 the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.7 degrees on June 2, while this year minimum temperature has shown a rise of 10 degrees with 28.3 degree celsius being recorded as Saturday's minimum temperature.

A little dip in the mercury with Saturday recording mercury level at 42.3 as compared to Friday's 43 degrees did not provide the much-needed respite. Hot winds in the afternoon have made life miserable. The minimum temperature on Saturday was 28.3degrees. According to met department, it will be blazing in coming couple of days as the temperature is expected to soar to 45 degrees.
People are fed up with this heat. Snigdha Pandey a resident of Sector 38 said "I used to go for morning walks, but nowadays it is too hot even in the early hours."
Confined to their homes residents are finding it tough to bear the sizzling heat. "I live in a PG and have not been able to go home because of the sweltering heat," said Rupinder Saini, resident of Sector 40.
Even evenings aren't cool. Sakshi Sharma, a resident of Sector 41 said, "I love hanging out with friends, going for shopping in the evenings, but these days blazing heat has made my outings impossible."
